The much anticipated CLB Academy Spelling Bee Competition kicked off with the first preliminary stage i.e. primary school category last weekend at the Centre for Law and Business, Victoria Island. The competition which is being much talked about had in attendance over 15 schools from Ogun State and Lagos State and over 100 participants in the primary category.
The first preliminary stage showcased an array of intelligent children from schools such as Corona Schools, Princeton Schools, Pampers Private School, Straitgate Schools, Liberty School, The Foreshore School, Sahel Montessori School, Chrisland School, Future Kids School, Heritage House School, Grange School, The Ambassadors Schools, First Quiver Schools, Ruling Stars School and many others. The contestants were given 30 seconds each to spell and pronounce each word and scores were awarded based on accurate spelling and correct pronunciation of the word.
The Jury for the first preliminary stage includes Mrs. Fadekemi Olumide – Aluko; Founder/Head of School, The Toddler Tree School & Member, Board of Governors, Grange School, Mr. Oladapo Oyewumi; CEO/Founder, Centre for Law and Business, Victoria Nkong; CEO, Qtaby Events, Sabina Umoren; Singer & OAP at Naija 102.7 FM.
The highly competitive preliminary stage was hosted by Onoge Tega Ben popularly known as OTB of Naija 102.7 FM while Dr. Blessing Ntamu was Pronouncer.
The contestants were asked to spell words like allegiance, beguile, ingredient, emergency, sirloin, naysayer, kosher, exercise etc. to test their vocabulary skills.
It was an exciting outing for children, guardians and school administrators present at the competition. A total of ten (10) finalists emerged and will proceed to the Grand Finale on December 9th, 2017 at the Landmark Event Centre. They include

The second preliminary stage for Junior Secondary School Category will come up on Saturday, November 25, 2017 by 10am prompt at the Governance Hall, Centre for Law & Business, 18, Babatunde Jose Road, off Adetokunbo Ademola Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.
